Chapter 3 : The Explanation

1 - This person has the appearance of a doctor  but he also seems¹ very disciplined .

2 - So logically , he must be² an army  doctor.

3 - His natural skin³  color is white, but his face  is tanned⁴  so he has recently returned⁵ from a hot   country.

4 - His face  looks tired⁶  so he has obviously been ill⁷  recently.

5 - And his left  arm  seems⁸ to be injured⁹ , because he's holding it unnaturally¹⁰.

6 - Now, where could an English army doctor have faced¹¹ so many hardships¹²  and been injured¹³ ? Clearly, it can only be Afghanistan .
8 - Very impressive , I said, smiling  .

9 - Suddenly, we heard  a loud knock  at the front door , followed by¹⁴ heavy  footsteps  climbing the stairs  .

10 - A young policeman  entered the room  and handed  a letter  to my friend.

11 - This is a letter from Lestrade, Sherlock said. He only calls  for help  when desperate , so this should be¹⁵ interesting.

12 - Dear Doctor, could you¹⁶ read  this letter for me, please?
